We are living in a day and time when fear is perpetuated front and center to the masses. It’s as if the majority of people are captivated by negative headlines, dramatic stories, and salacious scandals. All this type of media feeds the auditory cravings of our fleshly senses, which is the main power ingredient for fear.
Fear makes something that is tiny appear huge. It creates drama and stirs chaos. Faith doesn’t see large or small, it sees what’s ahead and moves you forward towards it. Faith creates peace. Recently, the Southeastern past of the US experienced a computer hack at one of the gas pipelines, which temporarily caused its shutdown. Now, the media overly reported this and people began to loose their minds! Where I live in Charlotte, cars were lined up, blocking intersections, creating delays as people panicked to fill up their cars tanks.
Now, there was no gas shortage. But the panic created a gas shortage as the demand overwhelmed the supply. My friend, don’t allow fear to make something that isn’t there. Fear has the same power as faith. In fact, in the spirit world, it is Satan’s faith. The power that faith has to create, sustain, and what God uses to accomplish his will, fear has the power to create, sustain, and what Satan uses to accomplish his will.
So, the question is, which will you function in?
David said in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” The Word of God is our shelter. It where we find protection from the elements! Psalm 91 calls it the secret place. You see, I read in 1 Kings 17 God commanded and provided substance for Elijah in a time of famine. A cruise of oil did not fail for him and a widow while everyone else experienced lack. When I heard the report of gas, I went to my vehicle and declared, the same way the cruise of oil did not fail, my gas will not fail.
We have to believe the report of the Lord. We have to respond the opposite of the world. This is the only way they can see the difference. Winning the world isn’t in being nice, dressing casual, and having short church service, though all that is appealing, it’s is displaying the power of our God, proving that He is Jehovah.
You may say, but I’m facing some hard times right now. Perhaps you just received a report from a doctor that is trying to discourage you. Maybe it’s an application to a school or job that has yet to bring you the news you desire. Or maybe you desire companionship and just haven’t been able to meet the right person. My friend, do not be afraid! David said again in Psalm 56, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
I share this in my podcast this month, and I want to share it here with you. Here are five quick ways to reject fear:1 Remember God is always with me2 Keep living by faith3 Declare what God has said about you. 4 Renew your mind 5 Pray in the Spirit and practice the presence of God.
As I close, I want you to be reminded of who you are in God’s Word. Psalms 8:4-6 says God has given you dominion over the works of His hands. Speak His Word over your life today, and you’ll begin to gain confidence that it is well!
